Campsite of the week: Cosy Under Canvas

Tipi or not tipi? We say tipi. And you’d be hard pushed to find a nicer specimen than those nestled away in the woodlands of the Welsh borders. Lucky visitors to Cosy Under Canvas (just down the road from Hay on Wye) will be greeted with a huge tipi, a hamper full of local produce, a place to build a fire and a friendly cockerel called Boris. Early morning wake up call it is then.

I'll take the left beanbag, you take the right

Friday arvo was helped along by a heady dose of 80’s power ballads courtesy of Matt’s laptop. Laurie and Em couldn’t quite contain their Meatloaf tinged excitement!

Cos you took the words right out of my mouth....

Pencil scarves

Look what we found over at bambino goodies. Scarves. Amazing pencil scarves. Blue ones, green ones, red ones. They’re designed by Sara Carr, they’re 100% super soft lambswool and we think they rock!

Are we sitting comfortably?

If not, you soon will be. Our new garden seat pads have arrived in stock. First in are the kissing animals and next week they’ll be joined by the ropes & boats beauties. If you fancy making a purchase, you can do so here.

You’re sure of a big suprise. That’s right Anorakers, the ropes & boasts collection has landed its first press pieces of the year. First up for your perusal is this week’s Heat magazine where you can see our ropes weekend holdall. The second is this month’s Coast magazine where you can see our seagulls coolbag and matching picnic blanket. If you don’t fancy shelling out your hard earned pocket money on the publications, here’s the cuttings for you to check out.

Campsite of the week: Henry’s

Since we’re all excited about the launch of our nautical inspired ropes & boats collection, for this week’s CSOTW we’ve headed to the Cornish coastline. Henry’s is a small, family run campsite situated at the top of CaerthillianValley. It boasts amazing sea views, ducks, pigs, guinea pigs and there’s even some rather nifty wooden seagull statues lurking around. Nice.

Battlelighthouses

Anorakers, we couldn’t resist publishing this little beauty we found whilst researching some maritime trivia. It’s a transcription of a radio conversation between a US naval ship and Canadian authorities. You couldn’t make it up:

Canadians: Please divert your course 15 degrees the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees the North to avoid a collision.

Canadians: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES’ ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, I SAY AGAIN, THAT’S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

Canadians: This is a lighthouse, over…

Campsite of the week: Blackberry Wood

Many thanks to Mark and Kay for tipping us off about Blackberry Wood, a woodland wonderland at the foot of the South Downs. There’s room for about 20 tents, there’s retro caravans to hire and there’s a vintage routemaster bus that’s been double decked out with a bed, a retro lamp, a kitchen and eating area. We can’t wait to visit.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

We just spotted this sleeping bag over at strawdog’s blog and had to write about it. It’s made by artist Eiko Ishizawa and we’ve never seen anything like it! A word of caution though Anorakers, we strongly advise steering clear of bear ridden forests during mating season when using this sleeping bag…

Grrrrrrr, I'm sleeping
